Indian indices, after trading flat for most of the day, tumbled towards the end to close in the red.
Sensex looses the 57,000 mark and Nifty failed to defend 17,000 marks. BSE Sensex shed 509 pts to close at 56,6598 and NSE Nifty closed at 16,858, sheds almost 150 pts.
