 Indian benchmark indices witnessed cautious stance by investors on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

The Indian stock market on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, witnessed a cautious stance by investors ahead of the Federal Reserve's policy decision on Wednesday and the market lost all the gains of the day by the end of trading.

The Sensex, which had opened at 74,800.89 against the previous day, touched a high of 75,111.39 during the trading session. But by the end of trading, it lost all its gains and reached a low of 74,351.68. Finally, Sensex fell 188.50 points to close at 74,482.78.

Nifty-50, which opened at 22,679.65 and touched a high of 22,783.35, soon lost all its gains in the day's trading session and fell to a low of 22,568.40. Finally, Nifty 50 closed at 22,604.85, down 38.55 points.

On Tuesday, 12 out of 30 stocks of BSE Sensex closed in the red and half of the stocks of Nifty-50 closed in the red.

Shares of Tech Mahindra, Tata Steel, JSW Steel, Sun Pharma, and HCLTech witnessed the biggest decline in BSE Sensex.

Small and medium share indices saw marginal gains, with BSE Midcap index closing up 0.49% and BSE Smallcap index closing up 0.10%.
